New Pics

Well at long last I have scanned in the ultrasounds. There are no between-the leg-shots, so these will have to do!

Above is a picture of both babies's heads together. You can see the membrane that separates them as well if you look closely. Do you think they are whispering secrets to each other? Or maybe starting to develop their secret twin language?

Above is a profile shot of Baby A, our little girl. The black spot in the chest is her heart.

Here's our daughter waving "Hi!" to all of those who can't wait to meet her.

Here you can clearly see the bottom of baby boy's foot. The other foot is there, too, off to the left if you look closely. What's poking out in the middle there? Maybe we got a money shot posted here after all!

Ok, above you can see some alien faces. No, wait a minute, actually these are the babies' faces. They are hard to make out, but look long enough, and like a Magic Eye optical illusion, facial features start to come into view after a few seconds. Baby B (the boy) is on the left, and Baby A (the girl) is on the right.

I can feel the babies kick now which is very cool. We bought a monitor so we can hear the heart beats, but we can not pick out exactly what we are hearing yet. My sister assures me that when Chris is a little further on we will be able to tell what is what.

Yesterday we had a baby care class. We learned swaddling and baby bathing on anatomically correct dolls. Coincidentally, we happened to pick up one boy baby and one girl baby!

I would like to send out a happy birthday to my great nephew Chase. He will love having little cousins to play with.

JACKPOT!!!

Well, the ultrasound was actually moved up to Thursday morning because they wanted the radiologist to be there to review the pictures that were taken during the ultrasound. So, I have had all this delicious news for 24 hours now and have not shared. So selfish, no? LOL!

Baby B is still a boy. Three cheers for our son! And, after reviewing the money shot pics, the radiologist stated, "I WOULD BE SHOCKED IF BABY A WAS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A GIRL AT BIRTH."

Holy crap. We freakin' hit the jackpot! It is now confirmed. We are going to be the parents of a son AND a daughter. I absolutely CANNOT stop smiling like a cheshire cat!

Both babies were looking great and we got some new really cool pics. Penny will upload them this weekend, so watch this space! The kiddos were moving around like mad. Actually, our DAUGHTER was moving so much that the tech was getting irritated. I believe the actual quote was, "This baby will not be still. This is going to take forever." Well, excuse me, Ms. Cranky Pants Ultrasound Tech. I cannot control her in utero. Actually, I have no thoughts that I will EVER be able to control her, if she is anything like her mamas! LOL!

That's about it. Healthy babies. Healthy mama. A son and a daughter. Now we can buy some girly stuff, to go along with the few boy-ish things that we have already bought. I just cannot believe how lucky I feel right now.

Thanks to everyone for their continued well wishes and support. We absolutely CANNOT wait for you all to meet our son and our daughter in just a few more months!

T-Minus Two Days!

So, our next ultrasound is on Friday at 6 pm. I hope that both babies cooperate and are not too modest, so that we can confirm the sexes of both. As you know, at the last ultrasound (in December), the tech said Baby B was a boy and Baby A was a "probably girl." We are looking for some definites this time around! Cross your fingers for us.
Everytime an ultrasound is coming up, I start to get nervous a few days before the appointment. Even though I can feel the babies moving everyday now, I am still nervous about the ultrasound on Friday. After the long journey to get pregnant, it is hard not to worry all the time that something will go wrong, or that all of this is just too good to be true! I feel so lucky that my IVF worked the first time. It did not work for two of my friends who had it. Another friend is going through it for the first time now, and oh, how I hope it works for her! So, think good thoughts for my friend's IVF and for our ultrasound on Friday.
It is so great to feel the babies moving around everyday now. It is kind of off-putting and I am still not totally used to it. But, it is nice to have some daily assurance that everything seems to be business as usual in there and moving along nicely. I am also feeling more movements in more places in my abdomen, as my uterus continues to expand northward. I am definitely feeling more movement higher up now. As confirmation that things are moving northward, my belly continues to move OUTWARD at a rate that makes me wonder what the hell things are gonna look like at about 35 weeks! Holy big belly, batman!
That's about it for now. Penny will post pics after the ultrasound, maybe over the weekend sometime. We will let you know who's in there, once we know. Fingers crossed for non-modest babies!
Thanks to everyone who is reading. We LOVE seeing your comments!

Bill says it's time for a new post!

Happy 2007, everyone! It is finally the year that Penny and I will become parents! We are so excited and can't believe that the twins will be here in just four months. Unbelievable!
Yesterday was my 32nd birthday. Happy birthday to me. I talked to lots of people, so thanks to everyone who called. I talked to my brother, Bill, in NY, and he informed me that it had been much too long since I had last posted and that the point of a blog was frequent posting to keep inquiring minds in the know. Well, excuse me, Mr. Pushy Police Man! So, Bill, this one's for you. Now, you better leave me a comment in the comments section. If you can figure it out, that is! LOL!
So, turning 32 means that, according to my OB, I am now considered (get this!) ADVANCED MATERNAL AGE for twins! Can you freakin' believe that? I guess I should have had them when I was, oh, I don't know...maybe 18? The medical world is just too much sometimes!
I had a lovely birthday. Dinner with some friends, presents, ice cream cake, and watching the L Word premiere on Showtime. Penny gave me some cool games and we played them throughout the day. Thanks, honey! You rock!
Pregnancy is going well. Not too much to report. I am definitely looking more and more pregnant and people who know me are noticing and commenting. To the rest of the world, I might still look somewhat "fluffy" (as they say!), but the gut is sticking out more and more like a proper pregnant belly. I am feeling the babies everyday now and that is pretty cool. I had a few pretty strong movements yesterday, so I hope that it is not too much longer until Penny can start feeling them from the outside. She is dying for that to start happening. The things that I feel are not so much jabs like individual kicks or punches, but more like rolling movements. The babies are definitely more active in the afternoons and evenings. Perhaps a precursor to being asleep all day and awake all night. Good times to come.
I guess that is about all the news from here for now. I am in my 20th week now and just so thrilled. We have our next ultrasound on January 19th, rescheduled from the 10th. The ultrasound department wanted to wait until the babies were a bit bigger, so they rescheduled the appointment. Hopefully, we will then have confirmation of the sexes of the babies. One boy and one girl, please! Thanks very much!
